Meet Our Directors
Fiona
Fiona is a natural horseman who has a deep understanding of horses and how they think! She has enjoyed being in the company of horses most of her life. From an early age it became apparent that she had a “feel” for horses and indeed her life was influenced by having them in it.
Fiona also has a desire for lifelong learning (completing her BA in educational studies in her 40’s), which gave her insight into people and how they learn.
In 2012 Fiona was fortunate enough to be able to bring these passions together when she became the owner of Kingsmead.
An ordinary riding school was never going to be enough. Over the last ten years Fiona has explored ways to ensure her experience could be used to support people and horses, and the idea of ITCH was born.
Fiona works as a director of ITCH and a partner at Kingsmead. She is hands on in both.
Shaan
Shaan is no stranger to a high-pressured work environment, she has been recommended and listed in the Legal 500 as a "Next Generation Lawyer"; and "future star". Shaan also knows that being around horses instantly brings a sense of calm and stability. She is the perfect advocate for the importance of the bond between horse and human; and how horses can help with both physical and mental health.
Shaan brings an unrivalled passion for horses and the unique companionship that they
bring. She is lucky enough to be able to spend plenty of time with them on the ground as well as ride on a regular basis. According to her, nothing beats a 4 hooved hug!
Shaan is committed to sharing the experience of just how special horses can make us feel
whenever we get to be in their company: "ITCH is such a special organisation and I hope it becomes as important to others as it is to me"
Shaan is delighted to be supporting ITCH as a Director.
Patricia
Patricia has always loved horses but like many people only came to regular riding later in life when she swapped the ‘rat race’ for early retirement.
Patricia says: ‘I have learnt so much from riding horses, not just about the physical side
of riding, but about how to "live in the moment". In my experience I know that horses really help to give me inner confidence and peace, and to focus on what is important in life.’
Patricia is still riding nearly 25 years later and is the proud owner of TomTom (although TomTom insists it’s the other way around).
Patricia joins the Board at ITCH as Finance Director and we are very lucky to have her!
ITCH: Meet Our Team
We have a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to enable us to run Kingsmead.
We have a senior team on the yard along with a our regular stable staff and a small number of apprentices. We also have a group of volunteers who help both during the week and at weekends
